Snow, Snow and more Snow...and socks

Three snows this winter and a lot of knitting going on around here. I am trying to get the momentum going to get on the loom, but I must admit I am kind of obsessed by sock knitting right now. Here is some weather and some what else, sock pics?

Felt, Felt, Sock

Well, here it is, The first finished sock of my knitting career. the second one is well on it's way so I will finally have accomplished soon what a lot of knitters never get around to. I could not have done it without my friend and mentor Fibertwin. We felted New Year's Day and had a lot of fun. things really turned out differently than I had anticipated. I can't wait until we do it again. The hawk shot is a young hawk on my deck this morning. Looking for a handout?

New Year, New Projects, New Attitude

Well, I guess no one would ever accuse me of not having an attitude. What I really mean is forging ahead with projects with more confidence and surety in my abilities. I Have Been Busy and I Have Good Help

I have been getting ready for the Block Street Art Sale this year and am busily weaving up some rugs for the event. Mirabel has been helping me with the final handwork such as tying knots. Here she is helping and there is a shot of the rug without her. Here are several of the new ones for the sale. I am putting in my wool runners, too hoping someone will just have to take one home...

Really Good News

I received quite a nice surprise this past Saturday. I had entered three of my weavings in the Ozark Folkways Fiberfest event which took place this past weekend. It was the third year for the event. Ozark Folkways has a long colorful history with NW Arkansas and the new director Rebecca Buchanan has been doing a top notch effort of promoting Ozark Folkways to the world. ozarkfolkways.org

I was fortunate to take some honors in the weaving category, 1st for Ozark Autumn and 2nd for one of my Sunflower series looper rugs as well as Grand Champion or Best of Show for my weaving Ozark Autumn. Pretty cool, huh?
